“Functioning of Signaling System in the Railway Stations”

The Department of Physics of Govt. Degree College, Rajampeta initiated a step to educate the signaling system of railways to the final year B.Sc Students. About 25 Students of final B.Sc gathered in the premises of Govt. Degree College, Rajampeta at 10.00 a.m to proceed to nearby railway Station i.e. Railway Station, Rajampeta. The lecturers of Physics Dept. along with student went to the Railway Station, Rajampeta after obtaining the permission from the principal, Govt. Degree College, Rajampeta. The Station Manager Sri. K. Satyanaraya garu, expressed happiness in view of the interest of the students. He asked the lecturers and students to sit in Station Manager Room. At that time, a retired station master namely Sri. K. Satyanaraya Raju garu also present at the station and was invited to address the students. Sri. K. Satyanaraya Raju garu delivered a lecture about 1 hour explaining the Origin of the railway System in India, the development of system, the progress in operational system, improvements in signaling system, care towards the passengers, Service rendering towards the passengers, maintenance of railways, Division of railways based on area, monitoring cells, different sections, timings, technological achievements and implementations in railways. After that, present station manager Sri. K. Satyanaraya garu along with lecturers and students entered into the room of Deputy Station Manger where the signal system was established. He showed Solid State Interlocking System (SSI System) and explained about the signaling, the precautions before giving the signals, automatic inter locking signal system, information to be passed to the railway gate operators, procedure to be adopted when the signaling process fails, etc… He answered the doubts asked by the lecturers and students. The lecturers and students expressed thanks to the station manager and other staff. They left the station at 12.30 p.m and reached college.
